This store is powered by Twisted Couture Ltd software, a clothing fashion brand registered in the UK (“Twisted Couture”). We at Twisted Couture are thoroughly committed to protecting the privacy of customers, site visitors and partners. We use the information that we collect to fulfil your product and service orders and to create a more personalised experience for you. This policy addresses our use and disclosure of information we collect from you. This policy covers our collection and use of personal information for all visitors, customers, store operators and third party business partners regarding all of our online operations, including those via Twistedcouture.co.uk
1. What personal information do we collect?
We are committed to delivering outstanding customer service to each and every customer. When visiting and purchasing from Twistedcouture.co.uk we collect two types of information about you. The first is called “Personally Identifiable Information” and the second “Non-Personally Identifiable Information” – we’ll explain what these are in a bit, but more importantly is the reason why we collect this data: simply it’s to help us provide you with the best possible customer service we can.
1.1 Personally Identifiable Information.
This refers to information that alone or together with other information we can access lets us know the specifics of who you are. We gather “Personal Information“ when you order from us or when you enter a competition or sign up to receive promotional content e.g. E-mail newsletters or offers by post (“Promotional Content“). This information includes names, e-mail addresses, billing and delivery addresses, telephone numbers, genders, ages, product selections and preferences, order numbers, billing information, payment details, referring website Uniform Resource Locators (“URLs”), Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses (which identify the specific computer or device you are using), comments / feedback / reviews, webpage usage, social media profiles.
This information helps us to fulfil your orders and provide you with the best possible customer service.
1.2 Non-Personally Identifiable Information.
This refers to information that does not identify a specific individual. We gather certain information about you based upon where and how you shop on our site in several ways. This information is compiled and analysed on both an individual and aggregated basis. For example, this information may include such data as the URLs of the website that you will have just come from, the URL of the website you next go to, the browser you are using, and your IP address.
2. How do we use the information we collect?
Our primary goal in collecting Personal Information is to provide our visitors a quality, personalised experience and to improve the way we design and offer new products such as to project trends and optimise product development. We use customer contact information to fulfil orders and to let you know the latest with your order status and from time to time, send you relevant promotional content which we think you’ll love, via email, text or post. You can easily opt out of receiving promotional content at any time as described in Section 6 below.
We collect IP addresses and other data to support our market research and understand the interests of our visitors. For example we use IPs to monitor the level of activity of different user groups on our site (how many people are on the site, which pages are their favourites and which countries we get the most traffic from etc.)
All of this works to support us in our work to improve and make things better for you, our visitor. For example, if we find that we have lots of Spanish friends we could know to translate our site into Spanish as a way to better serve them. Or if we learn that our customers need certain sizes such as small, we can personalise the site for them so that we show them products that are available in small.
To ensure compliance with the relevant legislation we routinely conduct reviews into our storage and use of data according to privacy by design principles, and where relevant this includes balance testing the legitimate interests with your rights.
3. How do we gather information?
We gather information in a few ways, some information you provide directly to us (e.g. your name and delivery address) and others we get from your device, subject to your device settings. Keep reading to see how we gather this information and what we do with the information after it has been gathered.
We collect information from visitors to our site regarding the URLs they came from (did you find us through Google or type in the address yourself?); if you’ve come from someone else’s site we look at their IP addresses to see where they are; we also look at the date and time of your visit and/or order, the number of visits and/or orders you make, the number of visits to different pages you make, the server type, the operating system, the browser type used to come to the site, the pages and page titles, whether you have certain things enabled on your device (e.g. “Java“ or “cookies“ – we’ll explain more later), the browser language (Bonjour!), applications and plug-ins, any search terms entered on our site… you see we look at a lot of technical stuff. But it all helps us to see what works and what does not.
When our customers order one of our products or services, we collect and maintain their name, e-mail addresses, billing addresses, delivery addresses, telephone numbers, product selections, order numbers, payment details, referring URLs, IP addresses (and passwords if they choose to make an account during the checkout process). We do this so that we can fulfil orders and let them know what’s happening with it (we’ve received your order, it’s on its way etc) and to send relevant promotional content if the customer has elected to receive it.
Setting up and Maintaining User Accounts
When any of our store operators, business partners and other users sign up for and maintain user accounts, we collect and maintain the personal data they provide.
Contests / Competitions
When you enter a contest or other promotions, we may ask you for contact information – such as your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. We do this so that we can notify winners and get their prizes to them. When you enter a competition or contest, we may use this information to send you information on other material we think you’ll like (i.e. our other promotions, or discount codes, or newsletters or promotional content), subject always to your rights to unsubscribe as set out in Section 6.
Content and Promotions
We offer free content, newsletters and promotions as a service to our customers and subscribers. We send this promotional content to our customers and subscribers from time to time via email and post. This is the primary method by which you can receive the best stories, deals, discounts and new products and access promotional content from Rapanui and/or Teemill stores. If you are subscribed to these communications and you no longer want to receive this content you can unsubscribe at any time using the web link provided in the promotional content at the point of delivery. We’ll then make sure we do not send you any more promotional content.
If you contact Twistedcouture.co.uk or our customer service representatives by telephone, e-mail or letter, we may keep a record of your correspondence or comments. If you report a problem with our site, we may collect the information you provide and store it. If you contact us through our feedback area or by calling one of our customer service representatives, we may ask for your name, e-mail address and order information in order to get back to you, to send a reply or let you know we’ve fixed the issue you had.

We need to provide certain information to third parties who assist us in providing our products and services and developing our markets, but under their contracts with us they are required to store and process your information in accordance with the relevant laws and under similar standards of protection as we do.

After doing so, you will never receive future newsletters or promotional emails – unless you open a new account, enter a contest, or sign up to receive newsletters or emails. If you do not wish to receive postal mailings you can opt out by contacting us and asking to be removed from our postal mailing list using the contact details at the end of this document.
What security precautions are in place to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of your information?
We build our systems with Privacy by Design principles in mind, and do not store card details or sensitive personal information on our servers. The customer data we do collect is stored in a password protected area and protected against unauthorised access by physical and technical security measures. Our data is stored on a secure server which has anti-hacking security measures in place. Personal profile data is stored in a password protected database on this server, which is itself protected with access permissions. User passwords are encrypted with modern non-reversible encryption methods. Transactions take place over a secure (256-bit) encrypted connection. Server software and security updates are installed automatically at a data centre run by insured hosting professionals.
7. How long do we keep your information?
Okay so now we’re going to explain more about cookies. But it is a little technical, so we’ll try and explain it quickly and simply. Well as much as possible. A cookie is a small data text file, which a Web site stores on your device’s hard drive (if your Web browser permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to us. When you use our site we will store cookies on your device in order to facilitate and customise your use of our site. To do all this fun stuff we use two types of cookies: Session cookies; these are temporary cookies that remain in the cookie file of your browser until you leave the website. We use session cookies to allow you to carry information across pages of our website and avoid having to re-enter information, and to compile statistics that allow us to understand how users use our website and to help us improve the structure of our website (i.e. which items you added to cart, in what colour and what size). Persistent cookies; these remain in the cookie file of your browser for much longer (though how long will depend on the lifetime of the specific cookie). Our cookies store randomly assigned user identification numbers and the country where you are located. These types of cookies make your use of the site easier, allow you to retrieve an earlier shopping cart, make the site run more smoothly and help us to maintain a secure site. They are also used to store information in relation to our affiliate sites who send customers to us. An affiliate site is where a partner website places links to twistedcouture.co.uk and is financially rewarded if you, the customer, make a purchase on twistedcouture.co.uk.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled. You can easily delete any cookies that have been installed in the cookie folder of your browser.
